Dear Parrots
As we approach the culmination of another remarkable year for our club, I find myself reflecting on the journey we’ve undertaken together. I am filled with gratitude for each and every one of you, whose dedication and enthusiasm have been instrumental in making the Parrot Amateur Radio Club the success we are today.
In the span of just six months, we’ve witnessed incredible growth, welcoming 20 new members into our club. Your passion for amateur radio and commitment to the club’s success have not gone unnoticed, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our Parrot members.
Before we bid farewell to 2023, let’s come together once more for the Flight 19 Memorial Event at the Fort Lauderdale Naval Air Museum on Saturday December 2nd, from 8 am to 4 pm. This event is not just an opportunity to honor the memory of the lost Avengers of Flight 19 but also a chance for us to connect with one another. Join us at the Naval Air Museum, where we’ll have a tent set up with multiple stations for contacts. Take advantage of the day to explore the museum and immerse yourself in the captivating Flight 19 story with the guidance of their knowledgeable staff.
Parrot Amateur Radio Club has our new callsign which we will now be operating under: WB4IRD. This new call sign marks a new milestone for the Parrot club and will enhance our presence in the amateur radio community.
A heartfelt congratulations is in order for the 21 new ham radio operators who successfully passed their exams this year through our club. Your commitment to learning and growing within the amateur radio community is truly commendable.
Our gratitude extends to the ARRL exam team, Gerald Deitch (W4LST), David Warner (KB4ICU), Jeff Stahl (K4BH), and Allan Karden (N4ALK), for your dedication in assisting new ham radio operators on their journey to acquiring their Technician Class licenses and upgrades.
Special thanks go to Wolfgang Snitsar (KV4ATV) and Jeff Stahl (K4BH) for your expertise in presenting for our club. Your commitment to sharing knowledge has undeniably enriched our community.
A warm thank you to Carol Sjursen for her dedication to managing our email and social media presence, ensuring effective communication and club marketing campaigns to the Parrot members.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to David Warner, KB4ICU – our Parrot Webmaster.
David’s dedication to the Parrot Amateur Radio Club’s website offers a seamless experience for everyone who visits our Parrot website and has exceeded our expectations, translating our club’s vision into a visually appealing and functional platform.
Our new website is a true reflection of the dynamic spirit of our club. Beyond its aesthetics, it serves as a valuable resource hub for information, facilitates effective communication, and fosters community engagement.
This year, we celebrated two immensely successful events—a picnic at Betti Stradling Memorial Park and a POTA event at Hugh Taylor State Park. The joy of making contacts, sharing delicious BBQ food, and forging new friendships and members made these events truly memorable. As we set our sights on 2024, our focus is on strengthening the Parrot club through dinners, events, Picnics, presentations and enhancing our club’s level of activity.
Looking ahead, starting January 2024 we have established a new monthly testing location at the Coral Springs Northwest Regional Library on the first Saturday of each month at 10 am. Exciting presentations tailored to everyone’s interests are in store, along with dinners and more engaging events throughout the year.
While uncertainties linger about the summer due to weather concerns (heat index), our commitment remains unwavering to make 2024 even more productive than this year.
I would like to personally thank all our members for making the Parrot Amateur Radio Club the success we have become.
As we approach the holiday season, on behalf of the Parrot Amateur Radio Club, I extend warm wishes to you and your families. May your holidays be filled with joy and a safe and healthy new year.
